Lanphos PE104

Product Category: Anionics

Isodecanol 4EO Phosphate Ester

Quick Links

Lanphos PE104 is an anionic phosphate ester surfactant produced from isodecanol ethoxylate containing an average of four moles of ethylene oxide. It is supplied in the acidic form and can be neutralised with a suitable base to produce the corresponding anionic surfactant salt.

It provides excellent wetting, emulsifying and dispersing performance, along with broad compatibility with nonionic, anionic and amphoteric surfactants. This makes it highly versatile across a wide range of formulation types.

Lanphos PE104 delivers strong oil-in-water emulsification and enhanced detergency, combined with beneficial corrosion-inhibition properties. These attributes make it especially suitable for use in hard-surface cleaners, industrial and institutional degreasers, agricultural adjuvants, emulsion polymerisation systems, textile auxiliaries and waterborne coatings.

Key Features

  • Excellent wetting and detergency for rapid soil penetration and superior cleaning performance.

  • Strong oil‑in‑water emulsification, ideal for mineral oils, paraffins, agrochemicals, and industrial soils.

  • High compatibility across surfactant types, enabling flexible formulation in cleaners, coatings, and polymer systems.

  • Corrosion-inhibition properties on both ferrous and non-ferrous substrates.

Applications

Hard‑surface, Industrial & Institutional Cleaning

Isodecanol phosphate esters are used as wetting agents, emulsifiers, antistatic agents and corrosion inhibitors in cleaning formulations.

Examples include:

‑ Hard‑surface cleaners

‑ Vehicle care cleaners

‑ Institutional degreasers

Agricultural Adjuvants & Pesticide Formulations

Phosphate esters based on isodecanol-EO are used as:

‑ Compatibility aids for mixing fertilizers and pesticides

‑ In‑can emulsifiers

‑ Coupling agents that improve stability of liquid fertilizer/pesticide systems

Emulsion Polymerisation Surfactants

Neutralised isodecanol‑EO phosphate esters are used as:

‑ Primary emulsifiers

‑ Agents for particle‑size control

‑ Stability improvers (reduced coagulum)

‑ Wetting/dispersing agents for pigments in latex paints

Suitable for polymers such as : Acrylics, Styrene‑acrylics, Vinyl acetate / VAE, Vinyl / vinyl acrylic

Waterborne Coatings & Paints

Isodecanol‑EO phosphate esters improve:

‑ Gloss‑ Pigment wetting

‑ Color acceptance
‑ Reduction of flash rusting on metal substrates

They are used in: Waterborne architectural coatings, Industrial coatings, Primers and corrosion‑sensitive systems.

Metalworking & Corrosion‑inhibition Systems

Phosphate esters from isodecanol are used for:

‑ Corrosion inhibition (ferrous & non‑ferrous)

‑ Lubricity enhancement in metalworking fluids

Antistatic Agents

Isodecanol‑EO phosphate esters function as antistatic surfactants in applications such as:

‑ Plastic processing

‑ Textile treatments

‑ Vehicle interior cleaners

Wetting & Scouring Agents (Textile Processing)

General phosphate ester functionality includes use as:

‑ Wetting agents

‑ Scouring agents

‑ Dispersants for dyes/pigments

Oil‑soluble Emulsifiers & Hydrotropes

Phosphate esters made via P₂O₅ often have higher di‑ester content, making them:

‑ Oil‑dispersible

‑ Suitable for high‑pH or alkaline detergent systems

‑ Useful as hydrotropes for coupling difficult‑to‑solubilize ingredients
