Corrosion Inhibitors
Corrosion inhibitors are essential components in the formulation of water-miscible metalworking fluids. The primary function is to minimise the corrosive effects of water-based fluids on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Besides the corrosion inhibitor components as a function of their chemical composition, they can also provide emulsification, lower foaming tendency and enhanced lubricity making them useful multifunctional additives. Metalworking fluid applications include soluble oils, semi-synthetic and fully synthetic fluids as well as cleaners.
Corrosion inhibitors components provided by Lankem may be used to boost corrosion inhibition properties of water-based fluids for steel, iron, aluminium, other metals, and neat oil lubricants for ferrous based metals.
These products are based on phosphate esters, imidazolines and fatty acid esters:
-
Lanphos PE74, Lanphos PE35 and Lanphos PE36 phosphate esters provide corrosion protection for ferrous metals and aluminium for soluble oil and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. Lanphos TEP4 provides corrosion inhibition in the formulation of synthetic metalworking fluids.
-
Lansurf CO12 and Lansurf CO40 are effective nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They are particularly suited to the emulsification of vegetable oils in addition to mineral oils and ester-based lubricants.
-
Lansurf CDE and Lansurf CDE-G are effective nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They are particularly suited to the emulsification of mineral oils and ester-based lubricants. In addition to emulsification, they provide beneficial corrosion inhibition characteristics.
