Low Foam

Low foam characteristics are important in the majority of metalworking applications to ensure optimum performance. Whether low foaming emulsifiers for soluble oils or semi-synthetic fluids controlled foam lubricity additives in synthetic fluids and in metal cleaning and surface treatments.

Low foam surfactants provided by Lankem can be used to optimise the foaming potential of metalworking formulation by acting as low foam additives or helping control the foaming characteristics of other components present. These products are based on fatty alcohol alkoxylates, fatty acid esters, fatty acid ester ethoxylates, phosphate esters and EO/PO copolymers.

  • BioLoop 56L, BioLoop 68L, BioLoop 84L, BioLoop RPS56L, BioLoop RPS68L and BioLoop RPS84L are biobased surfactants that can be used as lubricating additives in the formulation of synthetic metalworking fluids where they offer lubricity and dispersion characteristics in combination with low foaming properties. The BioLoop products can also be used in the formulation of biobased metal cleaning formulations.

  • Lansurf AE73 is a highly effective nonionic emulsifier using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. It is particularly suited to the emulsification of mineral oils and ester-based lubricants.

  • Lansurf AEP63 and Lansurf AEP66 are used in systems where good wetting and detergency is required along with the need to have low foam characteristics.

  • Lansurf SMO, Lansurf STO, Lansurf SMO81 and Lansurf STO85 are hydrophobic nonionic secondary emulsifiers using the formulation of soluble oils and semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. They can help balance the HLB of emulsification systems to give optimum emulsion stability.

  • Lansurf DPE201 and Lansurf DPE253 are used in a variety of applications including soluble oils, semi-synthetic but are most suited to the manufacture of synthetic lubricants, where they offer a combination of good lubricity, emulsification, solubilisation and dispersion combined with low foaming/defoaming characteristics.
